Inquiry Proposal
My inquiry proposal will explore the factors that influence the worth of higher education in relation to its cost. I was inspired to explore this topic because of a class discussion I had in my LBST 2101 Global Connections class. The speaker made the statement that college was unnecessary no matter what field we desired to go into. This statement shocked me because all my life I had been told by teachers and counselors that I was preparing to go to college. Why prepare to go to college if its "unnecessary"? This is a controversial topic but as we have learned in UWRT 1104, writing is a social activity that nurtures healthy argumentative environments. Feel free to fester up your own opinions about the topic and while reading, use your own experiences to explore this query with me.
The first paragraph consists of a narrative that puts the subject of higher education and student debt into context. I chose this narrative because I desire to be a doctor and it is a practical situation that many pre-medical students encounter. The second paragraph consists of unbiased facts and statistics about student debt. The third and fourth paragraphs address both antagonist and protagonist argument about why/why not college is worth the student debt. Finally, the last paragraph introduces my own personal opinions on the subject.
Enjoy!
